Fiji

After having travelled down and back up both islands of New Zealand, and before my tour in Saudia Arabia starts, I found that I would have one week to spare. I decided that Fiji would be a good place to chill. I was right.

I started out fast. After hearing that the next day there would be a momentuous game of rugby between arch-rivals Fiji and New Zealand, I had my driver reroute on the way to the hotel so that I could get myself a ticket and the appropriate fan t-shirt.

I was guessing that it would be quite an uphill battle for the Fijians, but it should be at least a passionate loss.

It turned out to be quite a surprise. Drua beat the Kiwis (with my support). The guy sitting beside me gave me a beer. That may have been instrumental.

Quite an interesting experience, although I still cannot claim to fully understand the sport.

The buffet breakfast here is phenomenal. You can eat various full meals, because it's all there: from traditional breakfast things all the way to roast beef (freshly carved). I ended up also taking an eggplant spinach curry, just because I could.

Took a trip out to a "club" platform where I spent the day snorkeling, eating and drinking. The ride out by boat was about 45 mins.

The food was very good (better than expected). I met a lot of interesting people to chat with.
The staff was extremely accomodating, even bringing drinks out to one of the floating decks. drinks are served
diver Did a bit of snorkeling and managed to escape with only a bit of red dome.
On the way home some of the staff kept us amused chasing us on jetski. It felt like something out of a James Bond movie. chased by jetski
In the evening, I was rewarded for the hardships of the day with this sunset, which fit nicely with a seafood skewer and Chardonnay.
